Minister of National Defense Nuno Melo confirmed on Tuesday in Lisbon that the visit of the President of Ukraine to Portugal is “prepared”, without providing additional details about the date and program of the trip.
“The visit is being prepared with the reserve that it should have, and we will see how everything happens in a very short time,” the defense minister told reporters.
Nuno Melo spoke as part of his visit on Tuesday to the headquarters of the Armed Forces Disabled Association in Lisbon, where he opened the exhibition “Colonial War – The Untold Story”.
Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to Portugal was announced on Monday by the SIC, which said the Ukrainian head of state should also travel to Spain to sign bilateral security agreements.
Sources in the Spanish government told Efe that Zelensky will visit the country “in the coming days” to sign an agreement with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
