The first edition of the Portuguese Youth League, the annual under-12 football tournament organized by the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP), will take place from 14 to 16 June in Porto. the organization announced Tuesday.
The competition, scheduled at the Bessa Stadium, will feature Boavista, Porto, Sporting Braga, Benfica, Sporting and Vitória de Guimarães, as well as Barcelona (Spain), Betis (Spain), Sevilla (Spain), Fulham (England), Paris Saint-Germain (France) and Stuttgart (Germany).
“This tournament aims not only to promote the sport among young people, but also to reinforce the positive values inherent in playing sports, promoting football at the bottom of the pyramid, and the role of the Portuguese League as coach of the best talent,” he emphasized in a statement from the LPFP.
The organization, led by Pedro Proença, added that it wants to make the Portuguese Youth League “the benchmark tournament for grassroots football at European level.”
“The Portuguese Youth League is more than just a tournament: it is a symbol of our commitment to developing world-class football talent. Bringing together renowned national and international clubs, this event highlights our commitment to nurturing talent while promoting positive values. football,” emphasized the president of the organization.
And he added: “Future stars of world football are born here! We are therefore convinced that the young athletes participating in the Portuguese Youth League represent the future and are destined to reach the biggest stages of football, both nationally and internationally.”
