An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale occurred this morning in several regions of Turkey and Syria. The earthquake caused a wave of destruction in both countries, with the death toll now exceeding a thousand.

In the last two decades, according to Reuterssome of the deadliest earthquakes in the world have claimed the lives of almost a million people.
