Adan becomes a hero in the Azores

From the beast (in Marseille) to the beast (on the island of Sao Miguel) took four days, that’s football. Antonio Adán, Sporting’s goalkeeper, was the protagonist of a game in which Alvalade’s side won 2-1. A match that turned out to be difficult for Sporting, who won by the smallest margin and experienced great difficulties in the second half.

The Green-Whites approached the game with the confidence that the players’ apparent class mismatch would make a difference. At a calm, unhurried pace, with easy and safe passes, Sporting cornered the opponent in his defensive zone. In the first 15 minutes of the game there was not a single shot on goal. In the 17th minute, Nuno Santos falls in the penalty area, looks at the referee and scores a penalty, but he retreats in the decision after seeing the video. Naturally, Morita opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a header that was deflected by Gabriel Batista from Edwards.

In the second half, everything was different: Santa Clara woke up, and Sporting coped with the game and fatigue. Thanks to Adan who kept the score 1-0 with difficult saves. Against the course of the game, Nuno Santos made it 2-0 in the 90th minute with a good left foot kick. The Azores still lost to Tagawa in the last minute.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE
Azores reaction
Lacking important players, Mario Silva’s team had a weak first half without an attacking game. In the second period, he reacted very well and even pushed Sporting to the limit. Great Azorean answer.

false punishments
The ease and frequency with which players ask for a penalty even though they know they are not and that their goal is only to deceive the opponent, the referee and the public. This Saturday, in just 10 minutes, the Sporting players requested three. Worth the VAR.

ARBITRATION
positive work
The team led by Artur Soares Dias has done a generally positive job in the Azores. Well, analyzing the alleged penalties in the home team’s penalty area, all with the intervention of VAR. Good in discipline.

“Superman” in the gate protects Amorim after the European disaster
Antonio Adan –
After the European failure in the game with Marseille, the Spanish goalkeeper made three excellent saves and showed that he deserves the coaching’s trust.
St. simply – He was calm in defense and gave speed to the right flank. It was taken to rest.
coat – After a muscle injury that sidelined him for a month, he has shown that he is still the master of defence.
Matheus Reis – Not very dynamic for a player who plays much better on the field.
Ricardo Esgayo – He was present at decisive moments, remaining unnoticed.
Morita – Decidedly took advantage of Edwards’ rebound and scored the first goal of the game. Scored the second round in a row.
Ugarte – Good technical details and good speed.
Nuno Santos – It was real speed in the left aisle. He scored the second goal after a great shot.
Edwards – He was on the field for the first goal.
Paulinho – It was Amorim’s bet in the starting line-up, but without the energy to do what he’s supposed to do: score goals.
Pedro Gonçalves – Good vision in the playthrough, but below expectations in the end.
Gonzalo Inacio – This refreshed the right aisle.
latch – He made a great pass and Pedro Gonçalves scored a goal but came out victorious.
Sotiris – Keep playing.
rock – updated.
