This is Kiyacursor longipes, a long-legged noasaurid whose remains were found in the city of Shestakovo, on the banks of the Kiya River.
“This is a new genus and species, its closest relatives come from the Jurassic period,” Paksina emphasized at a press conference as part of the Dinoterra festival.
The official added that fragments of the dinosaur’s skeleton were found last summer, but the discovery became known in May this year, after its publication in the British journal Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
“We described the species and genus from a fragment of the animal’s skeleton, including the cervical vertebrae, humerus and elements of the shoulder girdle, as well as from the bones of the hind limb,” explained Pavel Skuchas, professor of the Department of Zoology at the State University. University State University of St. Petersburg.
Analysis of the remains found in the rock showed that the skeleton belonged to a young dinosaur.
