The Slovak Prime Minister underwent surgery again this Friday after being shot on Wednesday. He underwent surgery to remove necrotic tissue and is still in very serious condition. “His condition is still very serious. I think it will take a couple of days to see the development of your state,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Robert Kalinak. Robert Fico, 59, was shot several times in the chest and abdomen as he greeted supporters after an executive meeting in Handlova.
According to Reuters, doctors will meet on Monday to assess the prime minister’s health and decide whether he can be transported to the capital Bratislava. “We wish him a speedy recovery and return to work. Robert Fico is between life and death,” said the Hungarian Prime Minister. Viktor Orban also said that even if the politician recovers, he will be out of work for several months as the European Parliament elections approach. “We are facing elections that will determine not only the members of the European Parliament, but together with the US elections could determine the course of war and peace in Europe,” Orban said. “We really need Robert Fico and a pro-peace Slovakia,” he added.
