“However, and since at the present moment, when we live, every suspicion is used as a weapon against political parties, it takes my conscience and sense of belligerence to weigh all the political consequences that need to be removed,” the socialist writes, emphasizing that the dismissal is taking place “ without admission of guilt” and to ensure that “the facts do not turn into an attack on the Socialist Party”.
The mayor also clarifies that the facts mentioned in the charge did not take place in the performance of official or political duties, “but rather in the framework of an employment relationship with one of the above-mentioned companies.”
According to a CNN Portugal/TVI report citing the prosecution, Davide Amado is accused of running several companies set up to make direct deals with Santa Casa da Misericórdia.
