Andre Ventura calls for stronger borders and an end to ‘mass entry of Islamic and Muslim immigrants’

Chegi President André Ventura this Sunday called for a European Union with “strong borders” and without the “massive entry of Islamic and Muslim immigrants” and said that he is convinced that he will become the next Prime Minister of Portugal.

“We want strong borders in Portugal, Spain and throughout Europe. Because Europe is ours,” Ventura said, speaking at a convention of the far-right Spanish party Vox in Madrid, which brings together European and American party leaders. the radical right in the campaign for the European Parliament elections in June.

Andre Ventura argued that it was necessary to “tell Europe” that it was impossible to continue to allow “the mass entry of Islamic and Muslim immigrants.”

“We have to say no,” said the Chegi leader, who received the biggest ovation from the 10,800 people gathered this Sunday at the Vistalegre pavilion in Madrid, according to figures provided by Vox.

Ventura assured that with these demands that he put forward this Sunday in Madrid, he is not “against human rights” or against the idea that one can and should “defend those who suffer the most.”

“We are the only ones who opposed socialism, communism and globalism, which have infected and poisoned the European Union,” said the leader of Chegi before the congress, which was also attended by the Spaniard Santiago Abascal, the leader of Vox, and the Frenchwoman Marine Le Pen. (National Union), former Prime Minister of Poland Mateusz Morawiecki (Law and Justice, PiS) and, via videoconference, Prime Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni (Brothers of Italy) and Hungary Viktor Orban (Fidesz).

Andre Ventura said he was convinced that among these names were “many of those who will lead Europe in the future” and included himself in this group, saying he believed he would be Portugal’s next prime minister.

Besides immigration and borders, Andre Ventura also mentioned the “gender ideology” that he believes exists in European schools, and corruption, which he believes is a hallmark of socialist governments.

Mentioning the names of current Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and previous Portuguese government leader António Costa, Ventura said the “socialists who rule and manage” the two countries “have created the most corrupt governments in Europe.” .

“We cannot be afraid to say this,” he said, before complaining about the “cordons sanitaires” that the European right wants to impose on parties like Chega or Vox, and concluding that the Spanish People’s Party, and the Portuguese PSD are “the same”. .

“They want to create cordons sanitaires for the only parties that defend freedom, the future, their countries, their culture, their Christian tradition, who are not afraid to say, even if they tell us the opposite, that a man is a man and a woman is a woman,” he said He.

Europe’s radical right has been meeting since Saturday in Madrid at a meeting of Vox and the Conservative-Reformist Group of the European Parliament, where Argentine President Javier Miley is a special guest.

Not all the parties meeting this Sunday in Marida belong to the same group in the European Parliament: they are divided between the ERC (Vox, Brothers of Italy, PiS and, as expected after the elections, Fidesz) and Identity and Democracy (ID, Chega and the National Union).

All of these forces are considered radical right, far right or conservative nationalists, and their speeches are often described by opponents and scholars as xenophobic, focusing on, among other things, immigration and border control.

“This convention will place particular emphasis on the importance of cooperation between different groups in the European Parliament in order to form an alternative to the centralist and socialist drift of the previous majority. [no Parlamento Europeu]”Vox said in a statement last week.
