According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), the areas of Faro and Beja are under a yellow warning today and on Wednesday due to the forecast for occasional heavy rainfall.
The notice will be valid from 12:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday and from 00:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday.
The IPMA also issued a yellow warning for the Guarda and Castelo Branco areas due to snowfall above 700/800 meters from 00:00 to 09:00 on Wednesday.
A yellow warning, the least severe, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather-dependent activities.
IPMA predicts spells of very cloudy skies across the continent today, showers in the southern region, the possibility of snowfall in the far north later in the day and occasional strong winds in the highlands.
The forecast also indicates frost formation, especially in inland areas, and a slight decrease in maximum temperature.
The minimum temperatures will range from -3 degrees (in Guarda) to 07 (in Faro and Aveiro), and the maximum – from 8 (in Guarda) to 17 (in Braga and Setúbal).
