Three people have been arrested for trying to sell tickets to US singer Taylor Swift’s concerts in Portugal for more than the agreed price, the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) said on Saturday.
The ASAE statement explained that the three people were arrested “on the spot, for a speculative crime”, they required identification and residence permits and will be notified to appear in court.
Regarding Taylor Swift’s two concerts at the Estádio da Luz stadium in Lisbon on Friday and this Saturday, ASAE has carried out an audit in recent days “aimed at ticket sales on digital platforms, mainly on social networks.”
During the inspection, five tickets were also seized that were sold on social networks, “with a net profit of 120 to 1,500 euros per ticket.”
Taylor Swift performs in Portugal for the first time as part of her world tour “The Eras Tour”.
The two Lisbon shows were announced almost a year ago and tickets sold out quickly, with prices ranging from €62.50 to €539 excluding fees.
Taylor Swift’s career tour, featuring some of her biggest songs, will only end this December in Vancouver, Canada.
According to Forbes magazine, Taylor Swift’s world tour has already broken records and became the first to exceed one billion dollars (about 923 million euros) in revenue.
