Argentine lawmakers accuse Miley of using public funds during a trip to Spain

Three lawmakers have accused Argentina’s president and the man in charge of relations with the Holy See of using public funds to make a trip of a “purely personal nature” to Spain last week.

The complaint, filed jointly on Friday by Fernando Carbajal, Pedro Jorge Galimberti and Manuel Ignacio Aguirre, deputies from the opposition Civic Radical Union, points to crimes related to embezzlement of public funds, fraud and fraud in public administration, as well as facts that the parliamentarians they described as “a blow to the trust and transparency that should prevail in the management of public affairs.”

“It is unacceptable that public resources are used to finance private travel and personal activities, diverting funds that should be used for the benefit of citizens,” Aguirre said, referring to Javier Miley’s trip to Madrid last week where he attended an event. organized by the Spanish far-right party Vox and met with Spanish businessmen.
