A 30-year-old man shot dead on Thursday by a PSP agent in Mem Martins, Sintra, has been remanded in custody pending trial. He is suspected of committing crimes of domestic violence, assaulting his partner, and resisting and coercing a police officer whom he tried to disarm.
According to information published online by DIAP in Lisbon, the policeman identified himself and ordered the civilian to stop attacking the woman with the belt. The attack continued, causing the agent to fire a terrifying shot into the air. It was then that the attacker attacked the policeman and not only attacked him, but also tried to disarm him. And it was during this conflict, according to the prosecutor’s office, that the policeman’s pistol accidentally fired and hit the victim “shallowly” in the hand. In addition to preventive detention, the attacker is prohibited from contacting the woman he attacked.
