The meeting was also attended by task forces from the three Portuguese clubs that own the stadiums that will host the World Cup.
The José Alvalade Stadium underwent its first technical inspection: it was greeted by Leonin’s vice-president Andre Bernardo, and Sporting’s matchday manager Alexander Martins presented the characteristics of the stadium.
The FIFA delegation led by Nicolas Rosenberg and the candidate committee headed by António Laranjo then went to the Luz Stadium, where Miguel Bento, Benfica’s commercial and marketing director, opened the tour with the participation of Bruno Sa and Nuno Constancio, the event and the directors of security.
On Tuesday, FIFA and the World Cup 2030 bid committee will arrive at the Dragao Stadium to visit FC Porto’s facilities.
Portugal, Spain and Morocco will host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, FIFA announced last October.
Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will also host three 2030 FIFA World Cup matches to celebrate the centenary of the competition, which first played in Uruguay in 1930.
