Students from the NOVA Medical School this Monday occupied a college building in Lisbon, demanding an “immediate and unconditional ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip and an end to the use of fossil fuels in Portugal by 2030.
The protest, linked to the “End Genocide, End Fossils” movement, which has already occupied three other faculties in Portugal, involves students from the NOVA School of Medicine and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH), as well as from the Nova de Lisboa University. the purpose of the occupation over the past two weeks.
“During the day, police prevented protesters from entering the college. Some students managed to enter and barricaded themselves in the room, while some supported outside,” the movement’s statement explains.
