Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus has extended his contract with undefeated Saudi Arabian football champions Al Hilal for the 2024/25 season, the club announced on social media on Tuesday.

“Here to stay. The champion and the “master of tactics” have been together for another year. Good luck, “Mister”,” reads a note posted on the social network “X” (formerly Twitter) by Al Hilal.

Jesus, 69, became Saudi Arabia’s unbeaten league champion when he played in Friday’s Saudi Cup final against Al Nasr, coached by Luis Castro and featuring Cristiano Ronaldo and Otavio in the squad.

The manager, who failed to win the Asian Champions League in 2023/24 in his first year at the club, losing in the semi-finals, has Portugal international Ruben Neves in his team leading a technical team with several Portuguese professionals.

On 11 May, Al Nasr confirmed the Saudi Arabian title, the 19th in its history, and gave Jorge Jesus the championship won in the third country after Portugal (Benfica) and Brazil (Flamengo), becoming his 21st title in a career. includes two Saudi Arabian Super Cups, the first in the 2018/19 season, his first appearance at Al Hilal and another this season.

He can add his 22nd on Friday if he wins the Cup and extend a career resume that includes six League Cups, three Portuguese First League victories, a Portuguese Cup and two Super Cups after his playing career.

In Brazil, he won the most prestigious trophy of his career with Flamengo – the Copa Libertadores, and in Turkey (Fenerbahce) – the Cup.

He coached Sporting Braga, Sporting, Belenenses, Felgueiras, Amora, Estrela da Amadora, União de Leiria, União da Madeira, Vitória de Setúbal and Moreirense. .
