IPMA also indicates that in the Alentejo and Algarve, precipitation can be “locally intense and occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms and hail”.

From Thursday, IPMA predicts an increase in sea unrest on the southern coast of the Algarve, while waves from the southeast reach sizes from 1.5 to 2.5 meters, gradually increasing to 2.5-3.5 meters.

IPMA has already issued a yellow warning for the Guarda and Castelo Branco areas due to a snow forecast that will be in effect from 00:00 to 09:00 on Wednesday, a warning that could affect the accumulation and possible formation of snow. ice, conditioned or off-limits roads, damage to structures or trees, and deterioration of local supplies.

The areas of Beja and Faro will also be under a yellow warning from 00:00 to 15:00 on Wednesday due to the forecast for occasional heavy rainfall.

A yellow warning, the least severe, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain weather-dependent activities.
