An 11-year-old girl, missing since Monday, was found dead in a garbage container on the island of Ilha do Governador in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Sofia Agelo was sexually assaulted and stabbed more than 30 times. The killer, the brother of the child’s former stepmother, was detained and confessed to raping a vulnerable person, murder and hiding a corpse, the newspaper reported. G1.
Sofia Angelo disappeared on Monday while on her way to school. Surveillance cameras at the grocery store showed that suspect Edilson Filho was with the girl.
The girl’s body was eventually found in a dumpster near the suspect’s home with her hands and feet bound and multiple injuries. According to the police, the killer acted with particular aggression and cruelty. The victim had stab wounds to the back of his head, chest, legs and back.
