Gas prices in Europe hit their highest level in a year

The price of European gas rose by more than 10% this Monday due to the closure of the gas pipeline connecting Norway to the UK, as Europe continues to depend on Norwegian supplies.

At 11:15 GMT (another hour in Lisbon), the TTF futures contract, considered the European benchmark for natural gas, was trading at 37.69 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh), shortly after it had risen 13% to reach highest level year, 38.70 euros.

“The Sleipner Riser platform, the junction point of the Langeled subsea pipeline that connects the Nyhamn gas processing plant in western Norway to the Easington terminal in east-central Britain, has operational problems,” Randy Viksund, director of communications for the Norwegian company, told AFP. . operator Gasko.
