More than 83,000 students took the 8th year Portuguese language assessment test today, representing more than 10% absences compared to more than 95,000 registered, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation said.
According to official data from the Jury of National Examinations (JNE), of the 95,408 registered, 11,897 missed the eighth year Portuguese language exam, with an attendance rate of 87.5%.
Of the 38 registered for the Portuguese Second Language test, 10 students were absent, resulting in an attendance rate of 73.7%.
The assessment period began on 2 May and they had until 13 May to administer assessment tests for Year 2 Physical Education and Art Education, marking the start of another year of national tests and examinations.
Then, from May 16 to 27, it was the turn of 5th year students to demonstrate their knowledge of music education, and 8th year students to take tests in the oral production and interaction component of English.
