Representatives of ANA employees heard today in the AR about privatization

This Tuesday, representatives of ANA Aeroportos workers will be the first to be heard in the Assembly of the Republic, as part of a series of hearings on the privatization of the company, which took place more than ten years ago.

At the request of the PS this Tuesday, the ANA Airport Workers Committee, the Port Workers Committee, the Aviation and Airport Workers Union (Sitawa), the Democratic Union of Airport and Aviation Workers (Sindaw) and the National Union of Civil Workers Aviation Workers (Sintac).

The privatization of ANA to French group Vinci was announced on 27 December 2012 and completed in September 2013 in a controversial process that more than a decade later led to calls for members to provide clarification in Parliament.

The PCP parliamentary group presented a proposal for the creation of a possible parliamentary commission of inquiry “to investigate the political and administrative responsibilities of the governments and boards of directors of ANA Aeroportos related to the privatization of the company and its consequences for the State and the management of the national airport network”, but was rejected by the votes of the SDP, PS and CDS, while Chega abstained.

At the request of the PCP, former Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, former Minister of Finance Victor Gaspar, former Secretary of State of the Treasury Maria Luis Albuquerque, former Secretary of State for Infrastructure Sérgio Monteiro, President of the ANA Board of Directors José Luis Arnaut, Executive President of the company Thierry Ligonier and organizations representing airport management workers.

The PSD requested hearings from former Socialist infrastructure ministers Pedro Marques, Pedro Nuno Santos and João Galamba, the President of the Court of Auditors, José Tavares, the consulting judge rapporteur of the audit report on the ANA privatization, José Manuel Quelhas and Judge Maria José Brochado, as well as the former presidents of the board of directors Parpública Joaquim Pais Jorge and Pedro Ferreira Pinto.
