The Mole Leste beach in the municipality of Peniche is closed to swimming and the red flag has been raised, the National Maritime Authority (ANM) said in a statement this Wednesday.
The ban was introduced “after water quality tests carried out by the Portuguese Environmental Protection Agency (APA) showed that microbiological values exceeded reference parameters and the water was declared unsuitable for bathing,” the ANM explained.
After receiving information from the Portuguese Environment Agency advising against swimming at this beach in the Leiria region, the regional health authority ordered the raising of a red flag and the posting of notices prohibiting swimming at access points to the beach. in the baths.
The ban will remain in effect until the results of new water quality tests are within control parameters.
