Bugalho accuses the PS of changing allies “depending on the elections”

The head of the AD list for Europeans accused the PS this Thursday of changing allies “depending on the elections” with which it is contesting and countered that the coalition is not allied “neither with extremists nor with populists, but only with Portuguese people.”

At a lunch meeting in Gondomar (Porto), attended by about 500 people, according to the organization, Sebastian Bugalho once again said that the choice at Sunday’s European Championships is “very simple.”

“Whoever votes for AD knows what he is going to vote for, he will not vote for someone who sometimes turns left to govern and sometimes turns right to stop him from governing,” he said.

On the day that the President of the European Commission and repeat candidate for the position will join the AD campaign, Bugalho stressed that the PS “sometimes praises Ursula von der Leyen for the mandate she gave, and sometimes says it was done with the help of right-wingers financed by Vladimir Putin.”

“We don’t leave the same thing, do you know why? Because our opponents change allies depending on where they are, they change allies depending on the elections they participate in, they even change allies within their party because they have different positions. inside the PS,” he criticized.

“Number one” on the AD list then pointed out the reason why the coalition consisting of PSD, SDS-NP and PPM is always in the same place.

“This is because we have only a few allies: the Portuguese. We do not ally with the left or the right, we do not ally with extremists or populists, we do not ally with Eurosceptics or Europhobes, we ally with neither Eurosceptics nor Europhobes . We are with the Portuguese people, with the democratic Europeans,” he defended.

Sebastian Bugalho once again called on voters “not to return” on Sunday, urging them to choose “those who have proposals to improve the lives of the Portuguese” over those who “prevent the election winners from serving the country” from entering parliament.

At the dinner, which was attended by former PSD general secretary Amandio de Azevedo, 90, the AD leader recalled June 6, 1944, D-Day of World War II.

“I’m not saying we’re going to land in Normandy, what’s clear is that the mandate we want from the Portuguese is in the same spirit: we want to defend peace and democracy,” he said.

Sebastian Bugalho listed some of the “difficult but not impossible” challenges that the AD delegation will face in the next term in the European Parliament – in the field of housing, youth, seniors or companies – and for the second day in a row, he left a special word for farmers.

“We must care and respect those who feed us. We cannot treat the old profession as if it does not predict the future, they have a right to be included in the climate transition,” he defended.

In this regard, he found it ironic that “the only measure that the PS has in its program” in this area is “strengthening dialogue with farmers when it had a minister who could not dialogue with a single farmer”, in exile to the former socialist minister Maria of Seu Antunes.
