The 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony, football’s most important individual trophy, will take place on October 28 in Paris, where two new awards will be presented to male and female coaches, UEFA announced this Thursday.
“The Ballon d’Or, awarded annually by France Football since 1956, is the most distinguished award a footballer can receive in recognition of outstanding achievements and exceptional talent,” says the official website of European football’s governing body.
UEFA will be responsible for organizing the gala at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris under an agreement between the group that owns France Football magazine, which awards the award, and the continental body, which is also responsible for managing commercial rights globally.
As part of the 68th gala concert, the Golden Ball among men and women, the Kopa Trophy (best player under 21), the Yashin Trophy (best goalkeeper), and the Gerd Müller Trophy (last season’s top scorer) will be awarded ), as well as prizes for the best men’s and women’s clubs of the year.
This year, for the first time, these awards were joined by a Male Coach of the Year and a Female Coach of the Year trophy, “recognizing the invaluable contribution of coaches to success on the field.”
Nominations in the various categories will be announced on September 4, allowing for performances at the European Championships, Copa America in the men’s sector and the Olympic Games to be taken into account, which will have a greater impact in the women’s sector.
