The leader of the Socialist Party, Pedro Nuno Santos, said this Sunday that “the PS is today the first political force in Portugal” in statements at the PS headquarters following the European elections.
“We defeated the three-party coalition ruling Portugal. We have regained our leadership in three more districts: Faro, Guarda and Porto. Without Chegi, the left was in the majority in these elections,” he assured.
Pedro Nuno Santos also wanted to congratulate all the candidates, but he especially congratulated Marta Temido. “This is the first time a woman has won a national campaign,” she said.
The PS leader also said that the government has nationalized these elections. “The elections are a warning to the government, which ignored parliament and the opposition.”
