Benfica midfielder Coccu was in the starting lineup and played full time in the friendly match between Turkey and Poland. Turkey, Portugal’s Group F opponents, lost 2-1 but dominated the game and had more possession and scoring opportunities.
The Benfica player was one of those who had the most shots on goal. They failed to score two goals only thanks to the successful intervention of Polish goalkeeper Szczesny.
As with Benfica, Kokcu played against Poland in various midfield positions, one of the safest bets in the tactical system of Italian coach Vincenzo Montella.
Meanwhile in Turkey, attention turns to midfielder and striker Ardu Guler, a Real Madrid player. The footballer entered the field only in the second half of the game against Poland, but was recognized as the best player of the Turkish national team.
Turkey’s coach even believes Arda Guler could be “one of the biggest revelations” of Germany’s Euro 2024, which starts on Friday.
