Voting took place in today’s plenary session and was carried out simultaneously in the general, special and global finals, with yes votes from PSD, Chega, IL, CDS-PP and PAN, no votes from PCP and Livre and abstentions from BE and PS.

Discussions on the Government’s proposed legislation, which would provide an exemption from BMI and stamp duty for young people under 35 when buying their first home, took place in plenary yesterday.

The government’s measure, which the Executive intends to come into force in April, provides an exemption from BMI and stamp duty on the purchase of a home whose value (for the purposes of these taxes) does not exceed $316,772. euro, that is, the equivalent of the 4th BMI step.

The measure also includes a partial tax exemption for houses valued between €316,772 and €633,453 (at a rate of 8% for this portion).
