Arsenal offered 80 million euros for Ghiokeres

Arsenal are ready to make an offer worth 80 million euros to sign Giokeres from Sporting, the British press reported on Thursday.

The Gunners had already expressed interest in signing the Portuguese league’s top scorer (29 goals), but have now made their presence felt. This amount is still €20 million lower than Ghiokeres’ termination clause, which is set at €100 million.

Frederico Varandas has already stated that he intends to release the Swedish goalscorer at the cost of his release clause, but with 80 million euros paid immediately or in several installments and a sum of 20 million euros for goals, they can speed up Gyokeres. ‘return to England. The Lions signed the Swede from Coventry (English League II) in exchange for 20 million euros (plus four million for goals).

Arsenal’s first target was Cesco (RB Leipzig), but he has extended his contract with the German side, forcing the Gunners to look for new alternatives. This is where the Swede comes to the rescue. Ghiokeres has been mentioned a lot this season and his stunning numbers at Alvalade make him a good target. He played in 50 matches, scored 43 goals and made 13 assists. He also played a decisive role in Sporting winning the domestic title, scoring 29 goals (in 33 games) to finish top of the league. The Lions’ good campaign in the Europa League (1/8 finals) helped assess the Swede’s capabilities against European teams.

With Sweden out of the European football tournament, which kicks off today in Germany, the Lions have decided to take Giokeres under the knife to deal with a left knee injury that affected the player during the final stretch of the championship. Even while recovering from the aforementioned surgery, those interested in hiring him remain interested. Arsenal, coached by Mikel Arteta, focused on Jokeres but also mentioned other players such as Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna).

Sporting are aware of the difficulties in retaining the Swedish player and are looking to sign Ioannidis, a Panathinaikos striker who has similar characteristics to the Swede. The Lions have already offered 18 million euros, but the Greeks are trying to increase it to 20 million. Ioannidis currently has a shoulder injury that will keep him out of action for two weeks.

PAULINHO NEAR MEXICO
Portuguese striker Paulinho is very close to heading to Mexico to represent Toluca, the team coached by Renato Paiva. The Mexicans made an offer of seven million euros, but the lions are irreconcilable and demand at least 10 million. Negotiations are active.

AMORIM PRIVATE GAMES
Sporting announced on Thursday that they will begin work on the new season on July 1 and will hold a pre-season training camp in Lagos (Algarve) from July 13-24. According to Amorim’s plan, two games are scheduled: one with the Belgian Saint-Gilloise (17th place) and the other with the Spanish Sevilla (July 23) at the Algarve Stadium.

Gyokeres and rest
Amorim decided to give Giokeres another vacation. The striker is recovering from surgery on his left knee. The start of work for the rest is July 1.
