Passenger traffic at national airports rose 4.8% through April

INE points out that “the nation’s airports continued to experience historic highs in monthly passenger numbers in early 2024,” with an average of 101,500 passengers disembarking per day in April (above the April 2023 daily average).

In April alone, national airports served 6.0 million passengers (2.3% more than a year earlier).

Between January and April, France was the main origin and destination of flights, although the number of passengers disembarking (-2.4%) and embarking (-2.4%) decreased compared to the same period in 2023. The Kingdom and Spain took second and third place respectively, Germany was fourth and Italy was fifth.

However, in the first four months of 2024, Lisbon Airport handled 53.4% ​​of the total passengers (10.5 million, 5.2% change year-on-year), and Porto Airport handled 23.0% of the total ( 4.5 million passengers, 5.6 million passengers). % more than last year). Faro Airport handled 2.1 million passengers (2.4% change).
