Italian referee Marco Guida will officiate Portugal’s Euro 2024 debut against the Czech Republic in a match scheduled for Tuesday in Leipzig, UEFA announced this Sunday.
Guida, a 43-year-old international since 2014, will be assisted by compatriots Filippo Meli and Giorgio Peretti, with Massimiliano Irati serving as video referee. The fourth judge will be Slovenian Rade Obrenovic.
The Italian referee will be in charge of Portugal for the third time following a friendly against England in June 2016, which Portugal lost 1-0 with Bruno Alves sent off in the 35th minute.
He also played in Portugal’s 3-0 win over Azerbaijan in September 2021 in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.
The quinas will make their Euro 2024 debut on Tuesday at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig against the Czech Republic in the first round of Group F in a match scheduled for 21:00 local time (20:00 in Lisbon).
In addition to the Czechs, in the group Portugal will also meet Turkey (June 22, in Dortmund) and Georgia (June 26, in Gelsenkirchen).
