The KP completed seven trains out of 11182 according to the schedule until 20:00.

KP has carried out until 20:00 seven trains out of 1182 planned, according to the information sent by the railway carrier, in connection with the strikes of the company’s workers, which began on Wednesday and ended on the 21st.

Thus, from 00:00 to 20:00 this Thursday, 1182 trains were scheduled, of which 7 were sent and 1175 were delayed.

Speaking to Lusa around 7:00 am, António Domingues of the National Union of Drivers of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ) said the strike was proceeding within the set parameters with 100% compliance.

On its “website” SR has already warned passengers about traffic violations from Wednesday 8th to 21st February.

“Due to the strikes organized by the National Union of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ), the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) and the Trade Union of the Traveling Commercial Inspection of Railway Workers (SFRCI), in the movement of trains around the country from 00 hours 00 minutes on February 8, 2023 year until 24:00 on February 21, 2023.

In a conversation with Lusa this Thursday, António Dominguez explained that the strike has several parameters and no minimum services have been introduced.

The unionist also told Lusa that the reason for the strike was the company’s lack of response to wage increases.

“The reasons are the same as always. There is a salary component. The offer of the company / guardianship is much lower than the inflation that was registered in 2022. This is less than half. cuts in real wages, these are not direct, nominal, but indirect cuts, in some cases higher than those that were during the Troika, and we do not accept this, ”he stressed.

António Dominguez stressed that the workers are demanding at least a restoration of purchasing power.

In addition to the CP train drivers, the Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) workers are also on strike this Thursday demanding higher wages due to rising living costs.

According to information published on the website of the Federation of Transport and Communications Trade Unions (Fectrans), workers from IP-Infraestruturas, IP-Telecom, IP-Engenharia and IP-Patrimóvel are on strike.
