Vangelis Pavlidis will be Benfica’s reinforcement for the next five seasons. Rui’s sporting director Pedro Braz has already traveled to Greece to pick up the Greek striker.
Negotiations with AZ Alkmaar ended with Benfica paying 18 million for the 25-year-old player. In this sense, President Rui Costa ordered the player to be taken away from his home country. According to the Record newspaper, reinforcements for the attack are expected to interrupt a celebration taking place in Lus in the next few hours.
Pavlidis was the main target of the Reds in the attack area. After presenting an initial offer of around 15 million, SAD raised the bid to 18 million and finally convinced the Dutch club.
The player, who recently stated in an interview that he would choose the club that “pays him the most”, has long decided that he wants to move to Luz, especially since playing in the Champions League is one of his career goals.
