Seven people were shot dead early Thursday morning in the middle of one of the main squares in the Brazilian city of Visoza do Ceará, in the interior of Ceará state in the northeast of the country. Two more were injured and taken to a hospital in the nearby town of Tiangua on Thursday morning, one of them in serious condition.
The massacre occurred around 3:20 a.m. local time and 7:20 a.m. in Lisbon when a group of people, men and women, remained in the Clovis Bevilacqua square, known as Praça da Matrice. Suddenly, people in a red car and several motorcycles arrived, surrounded the group and dominated them, preventing anyone from escaping.
Under the threat of using large-caliber weapons, nine were forced to stand side by side and put their hands behind their heads. Then, with the victims completely defenseless, the killers began shooting non-stop at close range, clearly shooting to kill.
On Thursday morning, the entire top public security command of the state of Ceará went to Viçosa, a city of 61,000 inhabitants located 360 km from the state capital Fortaleza, to monitor the investigation into the circumstances of the massacre. Among the various hypotheses about the murder, one of the most emerging is that the act may have been carried out by criminals associated with the PCC, Primeiro Comando da Capital of São Paulo, the largest criminal organization in Brazil, as a test of strength. and challenge Team Vermelho from Rio de Janeiro, who controls drug trafficking in the Visoza region.
