The 22-year-old man who, on October 9 last year, in the company of an accomplice, tried to forcibly release the defendant outside a dental clinic in Ibiza, Spain, has now been arrested (eight months later) by the Judicial Police at Lisbon Airport, the Criminal Information Unit and the PS units stationed at the airport.
According to the SP, the man, who is already in preventive detention awaiting extradition by order of the Lisbon Court of Appeal, faces 13 years in prison for criminal association, seized from prisoners and skilled assault.
This man and his accomplice had a plan: they went to Ibiza just for the sake of a coup. Both armed with firearms and with their faces covered by hoods, at 11 a.m. they attacked two members of the Civil Guard who were escorting a prisoner to a private dental clinic in the center.
As they left the reception area and headed towards the prison van, two men attacked the guards in the street. Despite the attack, security forces managed to hastily pursue the prisoner and catch him after a few meters.
The two hooded attackers fled in a black Land Rover SUV. Despite the fact that a “hunt” began on the island of Ibiza, a famous holiday and party spot in the Balearic Islands, the operatives managed to escape and set fire to the jeep. The man they were trying to free is a British man awaiting extradition to the UK for drug trafficking.
