Hungarian footballer Barnabas Varga, who was hospitalized on Sunday night after a violent clash with Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn, suffered “multiple fractures” to his face, the Hungarian federation said.
In information on social network X, the federal body indicates that it is “very likely” that the player will have to undergo surgery.
The incident occurred in the match between Hungary and Scotland (1:0), in the third and final round of Group A of Euro 2024, in which Varga was hit by the elbow of the Scottish goalkeeper and fell helplessly on the back of his head, losing consciousness.
