The President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, called on the country’s universities this Monday to contribute to finding solutions to the problems affecting the country, with a view to its social and economic development.
Nyusi spoke at the inauguration of the Rectors and Vice-Chancellors of the universities of Save, Rovuma, Punge and Likungo.
“Universities are investing in relevant courses that should help solve national problems, contributing to development,” said the head of state of Mozambique.
Higher education institutions, he continued, must seek answers to the adversities facing Mozambique.
Filipe Nyusi advocated improving the reach and quality of universities, as well as investing in knowledge dissemination and research.
“We want higher education to be fully responsive to national, regional and global dynamics, and we call for increased activities in higher technical education, dissemination of knowledge and research, with closer contact with the productive sector,” emphasized the President of Mozambique.
