Portuguese footballer Rafa, who left Benfica at the end of his contract, has signed a three-year contract with Besiktas, the Turkish club announced this Thursday in a statement sent to the Turkish market regulator.
“With regard to the transfer of professional footballer Rafael Alexandri Fernandes Ferreira da Silva, the player has signed a three-year contract until the end of the 2026/27 season, effective from July 1, 2024,” the club said in a statement.
Besiktas also state that the Portuguese will receive six million euros net per season.
Rafa, 31, announced his departure from Benfica last month after eight seasons at Da Luz, for whom he played 326 games and scored 94 goals.
Signed from Sporting Braga in 2016 for around €16 million, Rafa has won three domestic titles, two Portuguese Cups and three Super Cups for the Reds.
After spells for Lisbon, Minho and Feirense, the Portuguese international striker is preparing to begin his first international experience with Besiktas, who finished sixth in the latest Turkish league.
At the Istanbul club, Rafa will be able to reunite with Gedson Fernandes, with whom he crossed paths at Benfica, although the midfielder is close to joining the Russians at Zenit, the Turkish press reports.
