Fernando Boleahistoric player and coach of Bidasoa, He died this Thursday at the age of 59 victim of a degenerative disease that he had suffered for years.
Bolea began playing handball in Zaragoza, his hometown, and in 1990 he signed for Bidasoa Irun. In five seasons with the Irun club he won the Asobal League, the Copa del Rey, the Asobal Cup and the European Cup. He was also part of the Spanish team that participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, where he won the Olympic diploma after Spain finished in fifth place.
In 2003 he retired from active handball practice, but continued as a coach. He returned to Irun to coach Bidasoa, which had been in the División de Honor B for years and managed to return the historic Gipuzkoan team to the elite of handball, by promoting to Asobal in 2016.
