A 16-year-old man has been arrested by a court on suspicion of the aggravated murder of another 19-year-old man in Faro.
According to the SP statement, the victim was attacked with a sharp weapon, “causing severe chest trauma which ultimately claimed his life” near the municipal swimming pools in Faro.
The death from a single stab wound followed a previously planned clash between a group of teenagers. The 16-year-old was already leading a gang in the area.
“Realizing they were outnumbered, the group of four youths, which included the victim, fled, pursued by more than a dozen other youths. As they separated, the victim was ambushed and fatally assaulted,” the note states.
The detainee was placed in a hospital and left about three months ago. There were also records of other incidents.
He will be presented to authorities on Friday for enforcement action.
