Manuel Fernandes ended his football career in Vitoria de Setúbal in the 1987/88 season, scoring 16 goals in 28 matches, and also coached the Setubalense emblem on several occasions (from 1987/88 to 1989/90, 1996/97, 1997/98, 2009/10 and 2010/11).

Former footballer and coach Manuel Fernandes died on Thursday at the age of 73 after a long illness, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced on its official website.
Manuel Fernández, born in Sarrillos Pequenos, in Moite, on June 5, 1951, stood out as a player, above all in the service of Sporting, which he represented for more than 10 seasons, from 1975/76 to 1986/87, also spending time with Sarrillhanse, CUF and Vitoria de Setúbal.
For the first team, the player who scored a poker performance in Sporting’s 7-1 defeat to Benfica in the 1986/87 season played 30 games and scored seven goals.
