Defense lawyers insist that Saikaly had purchased the ticket to Lisbon in advance to celebrate his son’s birthday, not as an escape attempt to avoid arrest. However, they presented a ticket with a return date set for the 26th and did not explain the reason for denying boarding.
In addition to the manager, the former CEO of Americanas, Miguel Gutierrez, who has been in Madrid for a year, has been placed under preventive detention.
