Portuguese driver António Felix da Costa (Porsche) won the Formula E race in Portland, USA on Saturday.
The Portuguese rider, who started from fourth position, crossed the finish line in 34.00.097 minutes, leaving Dutchman Robin Frijns (Envision) in second place and Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne (DS) in third with a time of 1.440.
This is the Portuguese driver’s third victory in the last four races and the second in a row.
“It’s incredible. The third victory in the last four races. There will be more this Sunday and it will only end at the end. We will continue until the end,” the Cascais rider exulted after his triumph.
Felix da Costa took advantage of a mistake by New Zealander Nick Cassidy (Jaguar), who was leading with four laps to go when he made a mistake – he missed Turn 11 and eventually dropped to 19th position.
Thus, the Portuguese driver won the fastest race in Formula E history with an average speed of 152.041 kilometers per hour.
Felix da Costa was always in first place, taking the lead for the first time on lap 22 of 27.
The results lifted the Portuguese rider to seventh place in the World Championship with 109 points, 58 points behind leader Nick Cassidy.
The second leg of the doubleheader takes place this Sunday in Portland, marking the 14th race of the season.
The championship will then continue on July 20 and 21 with two final stages in London.
