Diogo Zorrinho, the murderer of businessman Joaquim Braz, was deeply in debt. In addition to the fact that the 26-year-old had not paid the rent for the pastry shop where he stabbed his victim, he also had unpaid electricity bills. The establishment’s power was cut off due to non-payment, and the situation was even reported to the landlord, who eventually died when he confronted Diogo Zorrinho with his debts and threatened him with an eviction order.
The bakery has been closed since the beginning of the week due to a power outage.
This Sunday, all traces identifying the baked goods were removed. The victim’s family member was collecting tables and chairs from the terrace. The objects are now located inside the facility, which authorities have not sealed.
The 26-year-old man who killed his landlord was preparing to dispose of the body, but only the quick action of the judicial police prevented Diogo Zorrino from dismembering the body and scattering it across several places, making it difficult to find.
The victim was found lifeless in the storeroom of the bakery. The door was locked and had to be broken down by firefighters.
The floor had been thoroughly cleaned and there were several garbage bags scattered around that would have been used to hide the body.
According to CMNearby merchants did not notice any strange movement or noise from inside and were shocked by the news of the murder.
Joaquim Braz owned about a dozen commercial spaces on the crime-ridden Avenida de Liberdade in Albufeira.
