The start of work of FC Porto this Monday morning in preparation for the 2024/2025 season was marked by the presence of 28 players, all from the previous season. The doors of the Olivala training center in Gaya opened without new faces in terms of additions to the main football team. The news therefore includes the debut of Vitor Bruno as the technical team of the blue and white team and the presence of president Andre Villas-Boas.
Absent on the first day of the post-Sergio Conceicao era were Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi (who has joined Inter Milan), as well as internationals Diogo Costa, Francisco Conceicao, Evanilson, Wendell and Pepe, who were all with their countries at the 2024 European Championship and Copa America. Portugal international Pepe, who is out of contract, is unlikely to renew with the Dragons. Fran Navarro and David Carmo (on loan last season) also featured on the first day of work.
The 2024/2025 season will officially open on August 3 with the Super Cup match against Sporting at the Municipal Stadium of Aveiro. Until then, Porto will spend two weeks of preparation at the Olival training center in Gaia and an internship in Austria. The presentation game for the participants at the Dragao Stadium is scheduled for July 28.
