According to the first technical report published this Monday by the regional Minister of Health, the fire that broke out at the beginning of May at the Divino Espirito Santo Santo Hospital (HDES) in the Azores was caused by capacitor banks.
“As I stated a week after the fire and confirmed by this report, the origin of the fire is related to a malfunction of the equipment, namely in the capacitor banks in the technical compartment under the generator set, located on the 1st floor of the hospital.
“We are waiting for a detailed technical report, which requires more technical detail,” Azores health chief Monica Seyde said at a press conference in Angra do Heroismo, on Terceira Island.
