The German Football Association (DFB) has been fined €20,000 by UEFA, the organiser of Euro 2024, for failing to prevent pitch invasions in Portugal’s games with the Czech Republic and Turkey.
The issue concerns fans invading the pitch to take photos with Portuguese national team striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
UEFA imposed a fine of 5,000 euros for on-pitch safety violations in the game against the Czech Republic, which Portugal won 2-1, and increased it to 15,000 in the second game, which the Kinas team beat Turkey 3-0.
Following the incidents, UEFA announced it would conduct a review and strengthen security at stadiums.
From the Portuguese group, the Turkish and Georgian federations were also fined 25,000 and 30,000 euros respectively for fights between fans of the two teams in the first round of Group F in Dortmund.
Portugal were fined €5,250, including €1,500 for fans throwing pyrotechnic devices in the game against Turkey and €3,750 for throwing objects in the match against Georgia, which they lost 2-0.
