A Portuguese fan was punched and kicked by security guards at the Frankfurt Arena where the national team played Slovenia on Monday night. While the fan was attacked in the access area of the pitch, another fan held his ground on the already occupied area.
According to a witness, the attack happened when one fan tried to enter the playing area after Cristiano Ronaldo had awarded a penalty. The source claims that a second fan tried to stop his colleague from entering the pitch and was also detained and attacked by several stadium security guards.
The action, which appears to constitute the use of disproportionate force, was filmed from the stands and identifies a “steward” wearing an official vest with the appropriate number.
