This morning, the judicial police carried out a mega-operation in the Parque das Nações area of Lisbon, which resulted in the arrest of a Portuguese man aged between 40 and 50, wanted by the Dutch authorities for being number two of the Wet Mafia, the most dangerous criminal gang in that country.
The suspect was wanted by the Dutch public prosecutor for enforcement action and is now due to appear before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for extradition to the Netherlands.
The Dutch police and prosecutors consider the Mocro Maffia to be very dangerous. Their leader, a Moroccan, is at large. The group has even publicly threatened to kidnap the Dutch crown princess and Mark Rutte, the country’s former prime minister.
