Appeal court upholds ‘Macaco’ in custody but releases ‘Polaco’

Fernando Madureira will remain in preventive detention and the Super Dragons’ number two, Polaco, will be released following a decision by the Porto Court of Appeal on Wednesday.

Hugo Polaco will have to report to the police station closest to his home three times a week, and on Porto match days he will have to report to the police station at the start of the match. The defendant cannot visit the sports facilities or the Super Dragões headquarters.

The Porto Court of Appeal also ruled to dismiss the appeal of Sandra Madureira, vice-president of Super Dragões and wife of Fernando Madureira, maintaining the coercive measures to which she is subject, namely three-weekly visits to the police station closest to her place of residence, as well as on the days and hours of national and/or international games involving the main professional football team of FC Porto.

Sandra Madureira is also prohibited from having contact with any procedural participant in the process, from entering any sports facilities where sporting events of any type and/or level related to FC Porto are held, and from visiting the headquarters of the Super Dragões.
