The GNR has dismantled an alleged drug trafficking network operating in the municipality of Torre de Moncorvo in Bragança district after two years of investigation, the security forces announced Wednesday.
“Guardian soldiers arrested three men and one woman aged between 18 and 34 years old and dismantled an organised drug distribution network in the municipality of Torre de Moncorvo,” the PNP said in a statement.
According to the Guard, the operation was part of an investigation into drug trafficking that lasted about two years.
The Guardia military managed to identify and dismantle a drug trafficking network that operated in the municipalities of Bragança, Carraseda de Ansiaes, Foz Côa, Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Macedo de Cavaleiros, Torre de Moncorvo and Vila Flor, as well as in the Bragança district.
During the police investigation, the PNR discovered that a group of individuals acted in a coordinated and cooperative manner and that the drug product, namely hashish, was purchased for subsequent sale to consumers throughout the Bragança region, which was done in a clandestine manner, attempting to conceal their activities, using various telephone equipment for this purpose.
As a result of the operation, four arrest warrants and 12 search warrants were executed: four at homes, four at IT centres and four at vehicles, resulting in the seizure of 1,062 doses of hashish, 15 mobile phones, 15 euros in cash, two vehicles, among other items suspected of being related to drug trafficking.
The detainees were present at the Torre de Moncorvo court and were subjected to coercive measures in the form of periodic delivery to police stations in their place of residence.
