The strike at CP, which began on Wednesday, resulted in the suppression of 57 of 308 trains running from 00:00 to 12:00 this Sunday, and the remaining 251 trains were sent, a company source told Lusa.
In a note, CP reported that 36.3% of trains were suppressed globally, long-distance trains 18.5% of suppressions, and regional and inter-regional 30.9%, the most affected, ahead of urban ones. in Porto with 17.5% and urban in Lisbon with 10.8%.
For the same period, according to the statement, 21 trains were planned, 3 were canceled, 18 were carried out.
As for regional and interregional ones, out of 94 planned, 29 were suppressed, 65 were implemented.
Still from 00:00 to 12:00 on city trains in Porto, 11 out of 63 scheduled trains were canceled, of which 52 were sent, while in Lisbon 14 out of 130 scheduled were canceled and 116 were sent.
The CP stop began on the 8th of this month and will last until the 21st, with no minimum service scheduled for this stop.
“Due to the strikes organized by the National Union of Portuguese Railways (SMAQ), the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) and the Trade Union of Traveling Commercial Railway Inspectors (SFRCI), there will be serious disruptions in the circulation of trains across the country from 00:00 February 8, 2023 until 24:00 February 21, 2023,” reports the CP portal.
The announcement of a strike by CP and Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) workers due to the lack of response to proposals for wage increases was made on 25 January by the Federation of Transport and Telecommunications Trade Unions (Fectrans).
For unions, the proposals presented are “far short of” the values needed to restore workers’ purchasing power.
